So last weekend was Blitz's Black Friday sale and I grabbed a single random draw egg that I was hoping would be either a moss collector or common fire. But it turned out to be a beautiful--and derpy--crown jewel that I have decided to name Roller Skate King in hour of the new hero song on Steam Powered Giraffe's new album MKIII, which came out the day the sale ended. Also they are currently my favourite band and it was either name the dragon after a song or my D&D character. I'm not feeling very creative with naming right now if you can't tell.
I posted a picture of my new beauty and was very quickly contacted about a breeding so I'm going to rep a breeding that I hope will produce me an orange or brown crown jewel because that's something I want for reasons. Especially considering 75% of my dragons are red and I would like a bit more diversity at the ranch.
I'm also getting an egg from a smoulder breeding and I'll also be breeding Nat soon because I would love another mossie with interesting patterns. Gotta love them mossies.
So the wave breeding will be pushed back to probably February when I can rep a breeding again. So yeah.

So I will be breeding Nixie with Senator Scalyrump during one of the upcoming breeding seasons. Hooray! All the babies! If you are reading this and haven't seen me post it in the clutch mate thread and are interested in one of the babies, contact me because there is probably at least one egg available.

Possible genetics:
Colours
  • 75% blue (50% yyrrBb 25% yyrrBB)
  • 25% white (yyrrbb)
Patterns
  • Benign white Xx (guaranteed)
  • Speckle xX (they'll probably just be carriers for speckle and won't have it themselves)

Considering that both Nixie and Scalyrump are kind of derpfaces, I'm hoping their children will be too. Like really hoping. Like I really just want more derpy dragon babies, okay?

So, first off. I took my girls outside for a photoshoot so I could get some nice pictures of Nixie and also update my forum signature to include all my girls. It was a bit shady in my usual spot, but I didn't let that bother me and I actually think they turned out great! I'm including a slideshow of them at the end of this post for your viewing pleasure!
And more exciting news at the ranch! I'll be getting an egg from a future common dirt breeding. The brreding is between BitterSweet's IndianInk and KitFixxies Common Dirt and I'm really looking forward forward to it. Also I'm 3rd pick! I know, probably not too exciting but at least I'll have some say in the baby I get unlike in the Sky Stalker breeding. Not complaining about that one though! I'd take any of those babies with the happiest of hearts!
But I've never really considering working with common dirts, so I think I'm going to give it a shot. And either way these babies are like super grab bag with genetics so it'll be exciting!
I'm considering breeding Nixie in one of the upcoming breeding seasons. I would love to breed her with a wave with mock wings, but I do think she'd have cute babies with GT's Senator Scalyrump. Especially since I do want some nice blue waves, and derpy ones at that... But I'll keep you posted as developments arise.
Catch you later, darlings!

As you may know, I purchased a female common wave from MeowHype as an Anthro Con pull. And since the last time I updated she arrived and I've been sitting on what to name her. But today the ranches newest addition finally has a name! Introducing Nixie!

She's just been sitting around on my shelf waiting to be named and I took it to the forums to name here, although I ended up choosing the name myself after some digging into the names of/for mermaids in mythology.

A nixie or nixe is the name of a female German water spirit or mermaid. The male equilentent is nix or nyx. Nixies are featured in the mythology of many different european cultures (wikipedia seemed to focus on the German, Scandinavian, and English equivalents). The English eqivelent are called knuckers and take the form of water-dwelling dragons or water wyrms (which is part of why I chose the name) and include Jenny Greenteeth, shellycoats, Peg Powler, brags, and grindylows. The general term for all there various water creatures are "necks". Weird, right?

Just in case you wanted more information on her name.

Nixie will have a photoshoot as soon as the weather clears up and stops being so cloudy so there will be more pictures of her than the one of her sitting on a stack of books (which include 101 Fairy Tales and Volume II: 110 Grimmer Fairy Tales by the Brothers Grimm and Tides by Betsy Cornwell which is an excellent fairytale-ish story about selkies for all those who are interested in that subject. Also, the second book contains the story The Nix ofthe Millpond).
